Due to the efforts of H. Reed Morse, North
Attleboro began boys' outdoor track in 1958. The girls' program
was added in 1972 and again Morse was there to for support and
to volunteer his time as a coach. Cross country and eventually
indoor track teams have since been added. Not only have these
teams been successful from a won/loss perspective, but legions
of alumni have gone on to distinguish themselves competing at
the college level.
The lessons learned on the tracks, runways,
throwing circles, high jump aprons and cross country paths have
served theses athletes well. They have found success not only
in sports, but in all walks of life.
This is a history deserving of recognition. There is no shortage
of heroes. As you scan the history of NAHS I hope you feel the
same level of pride held by those that took part or have watched
these stories unfold. |
