Stephanie McNamara - Senior Capt.
Stephanie McNamara is a girl of many interests. Sports, music and science are the largest blips on her radar screen.

“Steph” is the daughter of Karen and Thomas McNamara. Her older sister Jennifer is running on scholarship for Marist. Springer spaniel “Casey” also roams the household.

Stephanie is already focused on a possible career in biochemistry.

Steph, an accomplished flutist. She also enjoys skiing, and running. Steph includes hanging out with friends, science, skiing (ouch) and reading Dan Brown books among her interests.

Indoor Track '07 - After two meets Steph has qualified for state competition in both the mile and two mile.
Cross Country '06 - Stephanie had as good a cross country season as one can have. As senior captain she led the team by example. She won seven dual meets, placing second twice. Steph was second at the League Championship (2nd fastest NA girl in Borderland Park history), second at the State Coaches Invitational, sixth in the Class B meet and 12th at State Finals. Steph received Boston Globe, Boston Herald and Sun Chronicle All-Star status.

Outdoor Track '06 - Stephanie continued dramatic improvement throughout the season. She starred in both open events and relays. At the state relays she moved her team from 5th to 1st in the 4Xmile as the team went on to win the event. Against Stoughton she ran a mile PR of 5:23.8 which puts her third on the NAHS All-Time list. Steph was league champion in the two-mile, and went on to place 4th in the Class B Meet. At the state finals Stephanie ran 11:36.24 which moved her up to 3rd on the NAHS All-Time list in that event as well. As a member of the 4X800M Stephanie represented North at the New England Championships, placing 7th. That team also placed 5th at the State Finals with a school-record time of 9:36.39.

Stephanie was named to the Hockomock League and Sun Chronicle All-Star teams.

Indoor Track '06 - Stephanie has become the go-to girl in the two-mile. She opened the indoor campaign by winning the two-mile against Franklin, helping to lead her team to a two-point victory. By the end of the season she dropped her two-mile PR to 12:03 and placed in that event at the Hockomock Championship Meet.

Steph is the Captain-Elect for '06.

Cross Country '05 - Stephanie is in her first year of cross country and has made an immediate impact. After running #4 against Attleboro she had the #2 time for NA at the jamboree and placed 6th overall in her first Hock tri-meet. She went on to place 14th at the Hockomock League Championship, helping the team to a third place finish. At the Hockomock League Invitational SMac ran 17:43 which puts her in NA's top 10 all-time at Borderland Park. Steph is the Captain-Elect for '06.
Spring Track '05 - Steph spent the first half of the season rehabbing from injury. When she returned to the track she made the most of her opportunities. Switching to the two-mile for the first time she PR'd at the Class B meet at 12:30.
Indoor Track '05 - Stephanie blossomed in the 1000. She improved with every meet and qualified for state competition with a time of 3:24.66. She was unable to compete at the states due to a science fair commitment. She also ran the state qualifying 4X800M relay.

Academics - For three consecutive years she has placed 1st in the North Attleboro Science Fair. This past year she has been travelling to Boston to be involved in ground-breaking scientific research. She is one of the top students in her class.

Steph is currently enrolled in 4 AP courses (Bio, History, English, Calculus)

She is a member of the National Honor Society and Spanish National Honor Society.

In 2006 she received the Rensselaer Medal Scholarship.

Work - Steph has spent the last two summers commuting to Boston to work at BIDMC in the pathology lab.
College Interests - RPI, WPI, Holy Cross and Tufts.

Coach's Comments - I can't begin to describe how far Stephanie has come as an athlete and person over the last year. She has stepped out of the shadow of her older sister and forged her own path, in a direction that neither of us would have predicted even one year ago. When I think of her recent accomplishments my only genuine comment is 'Wow!"
