State to Limit Events

In a time and cost saving move the Massachusetts State Track Committee has decided to shorten the Championship Meets at the end of the season. In their February 30th meeting the MSTC voted unanimously to limit the State Class Meet and State Finals to one event – the 4 X 100M Relay. Coach Estey who had been an outspoken proponent of the move hailed the decision as “good for the sport.” “All those other events were confusing. Now we can just concentrate on one thing,” he added.

A quick review of the past two years showed the change would have made North Attleboro one of the top teams in the state.

Estey continued “I really feel the next step is to have everyone run on their own track and send in their time. Imagine how much money would be saved in bussing!”

This would also make a dramatic change in coaching staffs. In a retaliatory move, throws and triple jump Coach Scott Holster threatened to push for the introduction of volleyball spiking into the order of events.
