NOT A PAINTER

A coach cannot a painter be
No canvas, oil or brush he knows
An image clear within the mind
Often changes as season goes

The finished product “It just ain’t”
The one he started out to paint

Unlike the farmer planting field
Who nurtures long the broadcast seed
Removing all unwanted plants
And keeping just his family need

A coach can never this his crop
The common weed might reach the top

The baker has a recipe
Each step is one that must hold fast
Ingredients are kept the same
Each finished product like the last

To change the cake a coach’s role
A better cake the final goal

More like the fisherman perhaps
He plans his trip results unknown
He sets his net as best he can
Sometimes its full, but sometimes no

As a farmer he would never win
As a baker his success is thin
A coach cannot a painter be
A coach is just a coach you see
