Alexa Murray's (OA) win was a testament to consistency. Murray improved with each round and finished with the day's best time (7.51). For the Hock, only Samantha Smith's Sunday 7.40 was faster. Canton's “new kid on the block” is frosh Kelshorea Armstrong who challenged teammate Anna Amico and Sharon's Sara Gildersleeve.

North's Brady Shorey (6.81) missed finals by less than .01. Quinn Ryder is clearly the class of the Hock and maybe Shorey is next. Athletes like Paul Dassau (Sunday-Franklin-6.93), Alex Witkus (NA-6.91) and Chris Caciolla (KP-6.93) will be in the hunt.

55M Hurdles

Kristen Walker (FR-9.30-9.30-3 rd 9.22) is the battle-tested senior. She came through in finals when it counted to place 3 rd . Mansfield had two sophomores make semis (Dana Foley-9.59 and Paige Grimes-9.66). Other than that it was a senior laden semi including Colleen Healey (CT-9.58) and Amanda Cangiano (NA-9.61). The field will be wide open at Hocks with Alicia Macomber (ST-SO-9.69), Olivia Parsons (FX-SR-9.74) and Michaela Nichols (OA-SO-9.78). Although she had a rough run on Saturday, Kayla Bridges would normally be right with that group. Once you get by Christy Deininger and Kristen Walker there is a lot of parity in this event.

55M Hurdles

It was a strangely unproductive day for Hock athletes and I don't know why because I wasn't there.

First, Dan McKim was rolling along smoothly, running his first two heats faster than his 3 rd place Hock finish of '09. But, finals were not as kind as he DNF'd.   Then Mike Cardarelli (FX-8.48) qualified for semis but isn't listed in those results. I guess all the luck went to Greg Boursiquot who was flawless on Sunday.

1 Kim, Sam                    SR Lawrence HS                8.14q

6 McKim, Dan                 SR No Attleborough            8.29q

17 Cardarelli, Mike           JR Foxborough HS              8.48q

43 Ferreira, Brian            SO Mansfield HS               8.88

44 Sullivan, Connor            SR Oliver Ames                8.98

49 Ferreira, Ted              JR Mansfield HS               9.21

50 Sarapas, Brian             JR King Philip                9.27

52 McLaughlin, Shawn          SR Foxborough HS              9.47

Semi-Finals

2 Kim, Sam                   SR Lawrence HS                8.00

-- McKim, Dan                 SR No Attleborough             DNF

Long Jump

This isn't a major event for Hock athletes indoors. Vicky Tondre (CT-SO) took advantage of the opportunity, making finals and nearly placing. She had the same “best jump” (15'7.5”) as the 6 th place finisher. The tie was broken by comparing the second best jumps.

1 Gilbert, Nicole            JR Hanover HS             16-11.25

7 Tondre, Victoria           SO Canton HS             J15-07.50

12 Deininger, Christy         SR No Attleborough        15-03.75

19 Kent, Kristy               SO Oliver Ames            14-10.00

20 Murray, Alexa              SR Oliver Ames            14-08.00

Mansfield had solid jumps by two athletes and both made finals)   Patrick Greaney (JR-19'5.75-6 th ) edged teammate Greg Donahue (SO) by 1/4” for a spot on the podium.

1 Klein, Harry               SR Reading HS             20-01.00

6 Greaney, Patrick           JR Mansfield HS           19-05.75

7 Donahue, Greg              SO Mansfield HS           19-05.50

27 Burwell, Grant             SR No Attleborough        15-07.25

-- Cabao-an, Lester           JR Foxborough HS              FOUL

Shot Put

Alexandra Daniel hovers just under the radar in this event. The Hock had a strong contingent on Sunday but Daniel will be gunning for points.

1 Burke, Bailey              JR D-Y                    33-00.00

27 Daniel, Alexandra          JR Oliver Ames            28-06.50

Zach LeClair (NA-JR-43'8.25”) was the lone Hockomock entrant in this event but he represented well with a 6 th place finish.

1 Nardone, Zach              JR Bish Fenwick           46-03.25

6 LaClair, Zach              JR No Attleborough        43-08.25

High Jump

This was the Hock's best event of the day as they went 1-2 at 5'2”. Jen Esposito (MN-SO) edged Sarah Plesh (FR-SR) on total misses. This brings up a big showdown with Samantha Smith (consistently 5'3”) at Hocks. The lofty opening height of 4'10” bothered some solid jumpers who'll be attacking 5' next meet.

1 Esposito, Jen              SO Mansfield HS            5-02.00

2 Plesh, Sarah               SR Franklin HS            J5-02.00

-- Nichols, Michaela          SO Oliver Ames                  NH

-- Croke, Caitlyn             SO King Philip                  NH

-- Mosolglo, Tori             JR King Philip                  NH

Though under his usual level, Tristan Richardson (NA-JR-5'9”) still grabbed the 6 th spot.

1 Hill, Mark                 SO Sutton HS               6-02.00

6 Richardson, Tristan        JR No Attleborough         5-09.00

-- Ross, Dan                  JR Foxborough HS                NH

-- McLaughlin, Shawn          SR Foxborough HS                NH

-- Ferreira, Brian            SO Mansfield HS                 NH
