Sunday Elite Meet
Boys
McConnell is untouchable. It appears that Nick Bronson and Paul Dassau are in the hunt. I don't know much about Bronsdon but Dassau usually rises to the occasion. The uninitiated might discount Quinn Ryder but they'd be sadly mistaken. Ryder showed last winter that there aren't many athletes who can best him at Reggie. Unless the long jump makes him rush between events, I'd be shocked not to see him in the top-3.
1 McConnell, Christopher SR Andover 6.44
2 Nova, Francis SR Lawrence 6.60
3 Lindberg, Dana SR Hingham 6.60
4 Wright, Jared SR Gloucester 6.60
6 Dassau, Paul SR Franklin 6.62
Casey O'Brien is a big man for a short track but he can get the job done! Just as in the 55M, it will come down to all seniors. Matt Smith is the Hock's only entry and he'll be caught watching the award ceremony from the stands. Come on Matt. Make me eat my words.
1 O'Brien, Casey SR Seekonk 35.45
2 Singer-Clark, Tyler SR Falmouth 36.10
3 Regan, Timothy SR Sandwich 36.10
4 Holtzman, Bryan SR Lincoln-Sudbury 36.25
5 Stevens, Kerrick SR Andover 36.34
6 Abu-hijleh, Jamal SR Peabody 36.40
Steven Souza will march to victory. Get it? Only one non-senior sneaks into the top-6 in this one. Josh Raia's biggest competition is following closely on his heels. The only way to keep from getting run down is to ignore them and focus on what's in front. One of the more interesting Hock races of the day will be Kyle Kilduff vs. Vlad Francois . Personally, I'll think they'll run the fastest two Hock times of the day – or knock each other out trying. Ryan Petrella is “steady Eddie” but looking to break out of his mold.
1 Souza, Steven SR Durfee 1:24.00
2 Davis, Justin SR Ashland 1:24.61
4 Penn, Isiaih JR Newton North 1:25.00
5 Vetere, Mark SR Andover 1:25.10
6 Finigan, Peter SR Reading 1:25.11
19 Kilduff, Kyle SR Mansfield 1:26.58
20 Francois, Vladimir SR No Attleborough 1:26.70
Bobby McShane looks like the clear favorite but don't ever bet against the power of competition. It's a dog fight for second place with some blue chip names like Moules, Sollowin and Hubbard. What the Beck is Drew doing all the way down in the 1000M. He's either working on speed or is sick of counting laps. It would be fun if he got in the same heat as both Alex Gutowski and Chris Merola . I'm having a hard time chosing between Gutty and Beck for top Hock time.
1 McShane, Bobby SR Bish Feehan 2:32.63
2 Moules, Tyler SR Billerica 2:34.00
3 Cina, Paul SR Pembroke 2:34.00
4 Sollowin, Steve JR Weymouth 2:34.00
5 Hubbard, Joel SO Marshfield 2:34.20
6 Sukeforth, Andrew SR Middleboro 2:35.12
18 Gutkowski, alex SR Franklin 2:39.40
20 Beck, Drew SO Oliver Ames 2:41.10
22 Merola, Chris SR Oliver Ames 2:41.60
I don't see anyone touching Johnny Gregorek. Chris Allen very well may be able to break into the scoring (thinking 4:24ish) while Max Nolan is trying to join a very short list of Rocketeers who've gone under 4:30 indoors.
1 Gregorek, Johnny SR Seekonk 4:15.13
2 Reddy, Jared SR Methuen 4:21.00
3 Taylor, Antony SR Arlington 4:22.24
4 Voorees, Simon JR Andover 4:25.00
5 Kelley, Ryan JR Pembroke 4:25.40
6 Giardina, Mike JR Lowell 4:25.94
10 Allen, Chris SO King Philip 4:30.0
20 Nolan, Jonathan SR No Attleborough 4:34.40
I've got to think that Pat McGowan will plaster the competition. He's good enough, he's tough enough and he's green enough. Brendan Boyle is a tweener – too fast for Saturday but a little off the pace for Sunday.
2 Horowitz, Coby SR Nashoba Reg. 9:31.20
3 Colvin, Ed SR Catholic Mem 9:36.89
4 Barnes, Alec SR Lincoln-Sudbury 9:38.00
5 Varney, Darryl SR No Andover 9:39.33
6 Bush, Jeffrey SR Westborough 9:39.77
Any one with brains will bet on Braun – Nathan Willson-Braun that is. The Hocks Greg Boursiquot is a man on a mission. His mission is to run down Timm Moan. Both Eric Chaput and Jonathan Vaughn have a crack at making finals. Do that and a medal is possible.
1 Willson-Braun, Nathan SR Watertown 7.50
2 Mitchell, Matt SR Lowell 7.59
3 Moan, Timm SR Watertown 7.80
5 Bajko, Mark SR Newburyport 7.90
6 Patrican, James JR Gloucester 7.90
7 Bajko, Steve SR Newburyport 7.90
8 Chaput, Eric SR Franklin 7.94
9 Vaughn, Jonathon JR Canton 7.94
If the Hock gets lucky we'll place two with Connor Sullivan and Matt Sydney - or not. The life of a high jumper is never predictable. Even favorite Nick Staley could have an average day and get beat.
1 Staley, Nick JR B. C. High 6-08.00
2 Belton, Tobey JR St John's-Shrew 6-06.00
3 Fairfield, Corey SR Millis 6-06.00
4 Bucciarelli, Armando SR Central Cath 6-05.00
5 Destin, Angelito SR Doherty 6-05.00
7 Downey, Connor SR Bishop Stang 6-04.00
8 Mitchell, Matt SR Lowell 6-03.50
tied 8th Tilly, Joe SR Shepherd Hill 6-03.00
Although Craig Langes is the only junior in the top-6, he's as battle tested as anyone in the field. He'll have a great match-up with Quinn Ryder and Ben Kiley. Those three could rule the roost. Jon Raduazzo or Matt Smith would need a lifetime jump to grab a medal. I added Brian Espinosa's name because his dad Jerry was an NA record holder in a few events. The new Espo can fly and some tinkering with his approach has gotten him back to being aggressive on the runway. If he hits one it will be longgggg.
1 Langes, Craig JR Woburn 21-11.50
3 Kiley, Ben SR Newton North 21-08.00
4 McDonald, Ross SR Newton South 21-03.25
5 Lindberg, Dana SR Hingham 21-03.00
6 King, Jr., Rodney SR Falmouth 21-01.75
11 Espinosa, Brian SR D-R 20-06.50
19 Smith, Matthew SR No Attleborough 19-10.50
The Hock is pretty solid in this event. Kevin Peter can get it out there. He's always a risk to pop a 54'er. Pat Riggs, Mike Wright and Bobby Rowe are fighting for Hock runner-up status but it would be a stretch for one of them to make finals. Wright almost beat Peter in the dual meet. I thought I saw him throw further than 47' this year?
1 Davila, Ryan SR Lowell 61-01.50
2 Bombaugh, Samuel SR Falmouth 60-04.25
3 Margiotta, Gus SR Gloucester 54-01.25
4 Adams, Chris SR Westwood 51-05.50
6 Cadigan, Chris SR B. C. High 50-08.00
15 Riggs, Patrick SR Franklin 47-06.00
18 Wright, Mike SR Oliver Ames 46-11.00
21 Rowe, Bobby SR King Philip 46-05.00
Chris McConnell will run lead-off for Andover and the team will never hear footsteps after that. North Attleboro and Oliver Ames will have a great fight in their heat unless the officials decide to leave lane 1 open. In that case no Hock teams would go head-to-head. I doubt you'll see either Kyle Kilduff or Ryan Petrella stepping to the line in this one. They have bigger fish to fry in the 4X400M.

Andover may make it a double-win in relays but they'll have to work for this one. Too bad Mansfield isn't in the seeded heat because they belong there and could challenge for the win. North Attleboro made the seeded heat and will need to break 3:28 to place. I'm interested in watching how the Matt Moore/Grant Burwell decision breaks down between the 4X2 and 4X4.

Weymouth will try to keep Andover from three-peating in the relays. Though Franklin and Mansfield are way back in 12 th and 13 th , there's no reason why they can't find the extra second per runner it takes to challenge Wellesley and Belmont. I know Oliver Ames is faster than their seed. I think I could whip them to at least an 8:18!
