North Attleboro vs. Oliver Ames
Hurdles | A. Vandeventer NA - 7.7 |
D. Lamousnery NA - 9.2 |
K. Curtis NA - 9.3 |
North 9 - OA 0 |
North gets off to a good start with three in the finals and no OA qualifiers. Alix Vandeventer leads the charge with a state qualifying performance. Djerica and Kelly grab the other two spots. North's Brittany Dunn was leading in the second heat when she hit hurdle #4 and the deck - finishing 4th in her heat.
Dash | K. Hennessey NA - 6.3 |
M. Sirois OA - 6.5 |
J. Cappadona NA - 6.6 |
North 15 - OA 3 |
No surprise with Kathleen (state qualifier) winning the race but North got an unpredicted 3rd from soph Julianne Cappadona, running in lane 6. Though some would get overly excited when NA jumped to a big early lead, I was aware that their best events were to come. Every point was critical at this stage of the meet.
Mile | J. Binney OA - 5:39.9 |
S. McNamara NA - 5:40.1 |
S. Swanson NA - 6:20.7 |
North 19 - OA 8 |
Binney sits on Steph's shoulder for most of the race. She takes the lead entering the final lap but Steph (state qualifier) regains it and leads around the last corner. Julie has one more kick in her and outsprints Mac to the wire. The loss doesn't hurt the score as much when Shannon grabs the third place.
600M | A. Parker NA - 1:51.3 |
B. Frazier OA - 1:52.3 |
J. Kent OA - 1:53.0 |
NA 24 - OA 12 |
Amanda bides her time early in the race, dropping as low as third, but moves strongly to the lead in the last lap to grab a win, Frazier and Kent on her heels.
Shot Put | K. Achin NA - 32'4 |
Taylor OA - 31'5 |
Woolf OA - 29'3 |
NA 29 - OA 16 |
Kelsey continues to look strong in the shot. Although slightly off her state qualifying throw of 33'4 last week, she was over 32' multiple times. Though North continues to win events, OA's ability to grab 2nd and 3rd keeps the Rocketeers from significantly expanding the lead.
High Jump | L. Weeks OA - 4'10 |
K. Hennessey NA - 4'8 |
L. Alix NA - 4'8 |
NA 33 - OA 21 |
The next two events are just trading places, a plus for NA since they have a strong lead. With one high jumper out, OA can't do as much damage as usual, North's Kathleen Hennessey and HJ newcomer Lauren Alix netting the next two spots.
1000M | S. Krasney NA - 3:24.5 |
K. Taylor OA 3:24.9 |
C. Fisher OA - 3:30.3 |
NA 38 - OA 25 |
In one of the most exciting races of the day, Sara Krasney leads most of the race only to get passed on the final lap. When it looks like OA will crawl back into the meet, Sara (state qualifier) puts on a burst on the last straightaway to grab the win and balance the HJ results. OA continues to hang tough with 2nd and 3rd.
300M | M. Sirois OA - 45.0 |
K. McLoughlin NA - 45.0 |
C. Frazier OA - 47.8 |
NA 41 - OA 31 |
Another great race, but this time it goes to OA. Kristen led most of the race but a fast closing Sirois nipped her at the finish, McLoughlin hitting the track as she finished. Both times were excellent for early season on this track. The strong finish brings OA close enough to make a Tiger win possible.
2 Mile | J. Davidner OA 12:17 |
M. Fry NA - 13:34.8 |
S. Moses NA - 13:56.1 |
NA 45 - OA 36 |
With Jenna Davidner in the race there really wasn't much question who would win, but North only needed to place second to clinch the win. Marrah Fry took care of that, pulling away from OA's #2 runner after the first half mile and easily grabbing the needed points. Stephanie Moses added more insurance with her first career indoor track point.
4 X 400M Relay | North Attleboro 4:33 |
K. Flannery J. Cappadona K. McLoughlin A. Parker |
NA 50 - OA 36 |
Though the outcome of the meet was decided, noone likes to lose the relay. It was a battle with all three teams. North was 3rd after the first leg, grabbed the lead during the second, dropped to second during the third and it was up to Amanda Parker to attempt to catch Jenna Davidner. She grabbed the lead with one lap to go and noone was able to reel her in.

Kelleher KP - 29'1 |
NA 32- KP 13 |
Kelsey continues to look strong in the shot. Although slightly off her state qualifying throw of 33'4 last week, she was over 32' multiple times. Liz Malone tied for second best thrower, placement decided by the tie-breaker. The shot put tie-breaker goes to the best second throw for each girl, giving Liz a 3" margin of victory. If second throws were tied the third throws would decide.
High Jump | K. Hennessey NA - 4'8 |

M. Fry NA - 13:34.8 |

North starts the season with two wins, six state qualifiers and points from some new faces. A good start to the season.
